Gmail adds a way to block email. Here’s how….

If you’re getting emails you don’t want in your inbox, you can block the sender, unsubscribe from the sender, or report the message depending on the type of email.
Emails from senders you block will be sent to your spam folder.
- Open the email.
- At the top right of the email, click the down arrow.
- Click Block [sender].
If you blocked someone by mistake, you can unblock them using the same steps.
- Open the email.
- On the top right of the message, touch the gray menu

- Touch Block [sender].

- On a computer, open Gmail.
- Click the gear icon

- Click Settings.
- Click Filters and Blocked Addresses and scroll to the bottom.
Gmail tries to keep spam out of your inbox, but sometimes messages get through. If you see a spam message in your inbox:
- Open Gmail.
- Select the message you’d like to report.
- In the toolbar above your emails, click the spam button
. If you have the message open, you can also report it as spam by using the same button.
Remember, every time you report spam or phishing, it helps us identify those emails as spam for you in the future.
- Open Gmail.
- Open the message you’d like to report.
- At the top right, touch the white menu with the red background
.
- Touch Report spam.
You might be subscribed to a site that sends you frequent updates, like emails about upcoming sales. To unsubscribe to these emails:
- Open one of the emails.
- Click the Unsubscribe or Change Preferences link at the bottom.
If you don’t see these links, you can block the sender (see instructions at the top of this article), or mark it as spam.
- Open the email.
- At the top right, touch the gray menu

- Touch Unsubscribe.
